Swiss watch brand Girard-Perregaux and the British luxury automotive marque Aston Martin have unveiled the first timepiece produced from their collaboration; The Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges – Aston Martin Edition unites the watchmaking expertise of Girard-Perregaux with Aston Martin’s unique knowledge of luxury and performance.
The partnership includes Aston Martin Lagonda and Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team evident from the Girard-Perregaux logo on the Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team cars, and as expected Girard-Perregaux watches are worn on the wrists of the drivers as well.
The Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges
The 44 millimetre case of the Tourbillon with Three Flying Bridges – Aston Martin Edition is formed of Grade 5 titanium, a strong, hypoallergenic alloy selected by Aston Martin for its lightweight properties. It is suffused with black DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon), bestowing the watch with a stealthy appearance. Subtle and understated markings of Aston Martin feature on the sides of the micro-rotor is a nod to the elegance and refinement of the British sports carmaker, not to be loud but to be present.
The model’s triple bridges are a horological signature of Girard-Perregaux that give the inner mechanics the illusion that they’re floating, and you can see both sides of the mechanism through the sapphire crystal case. The tourbillon cage, measuring a mere 10mm in diameter, consists of 79 components weighing a remarkably low 0.25 grams, which helps to mitigate energy consumption. The automatic movement delivers a 60-hour power reserve.
The timepiece also comes with a new strap that features Girard-Perregaux’s Rubber Alloy, an innovative rubber insert injected with white gold. The strap’s design is inspired by Aston Martin racecars of the past.
