Form follows function.
INTRODUCTION
Three weeks into the new year, no doubt we are all thinking about fresh starts and just simply starting the year on the right foot, I saw this as an opportunity to do some cleaning around my new home and It was was the perfect time to upgrade my existing handheld Dyson portable vacuum to the latest and most powerful iteration the V8 Absolute and get some serious housework done in a hurry.
DESIGN
As with all Dyson products, design is a core attribute to what makes the brand so successful and different to the rest of the market. The modern aesthetic will ensure the vacuum gets plenty of attention, and might even result in a small quarrel over who does the vacuuming in the household. The Dyson V8 has titanium like finish to the plastic body which contributes to the design language being sleek, futuristic yet industrial. The vacuum comes in various colour ways depending on the model. This particular 'Absolute' model has an electric orange shaft, with titanium, red and purple accents.

FUNCTION
Powerful cord-free cleaning around the home is easily achieved with this vacuum, no cords, no hassles. The unit is portable and lightweight to get around the home effortlessly. The new V8 Absolute, has a powerful motor inside the brush bar which helps remove stubborn dirt and even pet hair from both hard surfaces and plush carpet. A ball mounted motor head allows you to get to those tricky places, like under the sofa or even up high on the ceiling. It also comes with several head attachments for various uses (carpet, tiles floors, furniture and a narrow head).
One of the handiest features of Dyson's handheld vacuums is the ability to effortlessly convert the vacuum between stick and handheld modes, allowing it to be even more portable. Once you are done cleaning, dock the unit straight into the wall mounted docking system to charge until the next time you need to use it.
As a designer, I have always loved the engineering, technology and design philosophies of Dyson, one of my favourite quotes is by their founder James Dyson
"Making mistakes and taking risks: the fuel for inventiveness and problem solving".
Dyson's ethos of being progressive and inventive is respected beyond its domestic audience. The signature futuristic aesthetics of their products is uniquely recognisable and have won the brand many design awards over the years.
